A woman in her late twenties, having achieved significant weight loss, presented with concerns regarding substantial laxity and redundant skin on her upper arms. This excess tissue caused her aesthetic distress and limited her clothing options, impacting her self-confidence. After a thorough consultation and evaluation, Dr. Dorafshar recommended a brachioplasty, a surgical procedure specifically designed to address this issue. The goal of the surgery was to remove the excess skin and underlying fat, resulting in a more contoured and toned appearance of her arms.
During the brachioplasty, Dr. Dorafshar employed meticulous surgical techniques. An incision was carefully planned along the inner aspect of the upper arm, extending from the axilla (armpit) towards the elbow. Through this incision, the redundant skin and subcutaneous fat were precisely excised. To further enhance the contour and address any remaining localized fat deposits, liposuction was strategically utilized in conjunction with the skin excision. This combination allowed for both the removal of excess volume and the tightening of the remaining skin envelope. Following the removal of the excess tissue, the remaining skin was redraped and meticulously closed with sutures, aiming for the least noticeable scar possible. The procedure was completed successfully, achieving a significant improvement in the patient’s arm contour and addressing her concerns regarding excess skin.
