Facial Feminization Surgery Patient – Chicago, IL
A transfeminine patient sought facial feminization, having extensively researched various surgeons before choosing Dr. Dorafshar. Prior to the procedure, multiple in-depth consultations were held to thoroughly discuss the surgical plan, potential benefits, alternative approaches, and inherent risks. This extensive dialogue ensured a clear alignment of expectations regarding the anticipated outcomes.
The patient underwent a comprehensive two-stage facial feminization process. The initial stage addressed the upper and mid-face, as well as the lower face and neck. It commenced with a hairline incision, followed by a frontal sinus setback and meticulous contouring of the brow bones. A brow lift and scalp advancement were also performed to achieve a more feminine forehead and hairline. For the midface, volume was restored and contours softened through fat grafting to the cheeks and malar regions, as well as to the upper and lower lips. The lower face was addressed with a genioplasty to reshape the chin and mandibular contouring to refine the jawline. In the neck, a tracheal shave was performed to reduce the prominence of the Adam’s apple.
In the second stage, the patient expressed a desire to preserve the existing tip and overall position of her nose, focusing solely on refining the dorsal aesthetic. An endonasal approach was utilized to smoothly reduce the dorsal nasal hump.
Following the completion of both stages, the patient expressed significant satisfaction with the results, reporting a profound sense of increased congruence with her gender identity.
