Facial Feminization Surgery Patient – Chicago, IL
This transfeminine patient sought consultation for gender dysphoria specifically related to facial features perceived as masculine. Her primary concerns focused on the appearance of her nose, chin, and the prominence of her Adam’s apple. Following a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Dorafshar, a personalized surgical plan was developed to address these concerns and achieve a more feminized facial aesthetic. The patient elected to proceed with a multi-procedure approach, including an open rhinoplasty, genioplasty, and mandibular contouring.
During the open rhinoplasty, the surgical team meticulously addressed the patient’s nasal concerns. The prominent nasal dorsal hump, which contributed to a masculine profile, was carefully reduced. Furthermore, the nasal tip was refined with precision, utilizing a combination of expertly placed cartilage grafts and strategic sutures to achieve a more delicate and aesthetically pleasing shape.
The genioplasty and mandibular contouring procedures were performed through an internal gingivolabial incision. This approach allowed Dr. Dorafshar to meticulously reshape and feminize the patient’s chin and jawline. The goal was to create softer, more harmonious facial contours that aligned with the patient’s desired feminine appearance.
In addition to these procedures, the patient underwent a tracheal shave. This was performed through a small, strategically placed incision within the submental crease. This approach effectively minimized the visibility of the scar, contributing to an optimal aesthetic outcome and addressing the patient’s concern regarding the prominence of her Adam’s apple.
