A Latina woman in her early fifties sought our expertise for a rhinoplasty, desiring a more refined and upturned nasal appearance, specifically addressing her “Mestizo” nose type. She expressed a clear preference for a smaller, more defined nasal tip.
Following comprehensive consultations with Dr. Dorafshar, where realistic expectations were thoroughly established and discussed, an open rhinoplasty was performed. This approach utilized a carefully placed, small incision at the columella, along with internal infracartilaginous nasal incisions, to allow for optimal surgical access and precision.
During the procedure, several key modifications were implemented to achieve the desired aesthetic outcome. The nasal dorsum was meticulously reduced to create a smoother, more elegant profile. A septoplasty was concurrently performed to address any structural issues and improve airflow. To achieve the desired tip refinement, specialized tip-defining sutures were strategically placed. The nasal bones were carefully infractured, a technique that narrows the bridge of the nose, contributing to a more delicate appearance. Finally, the nasal alar were expertly excised using Weir alar base excisions, which refined the nostril shape and size, harmonizing with the overall nasal structure.
The culmination of these precise surgical techniques resulted in a significantly more upturned nasal tip and a noticeably smaller, more sculpted tip. The patient has expressed immense satisfaction and is ecstatic with the transformative results of her rhinoplasty.
